Indian Space Research Organization has announced the ISRO Young Scientist Program (YUVIKA) 2024 targeting school children. According to the official website, the registration process for Yuvika 2024 will be conducted from February 20 to March 20, 2024. The program is expected to encourage more students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Indian Space Research Organization is organizing a special program named “Young Scientist Programme”, “YUva VIgyani KAryakram” for school children to educate young students on space technology, space science and space applications in emerging trends in space science. Among the youth, it provides basic knowledge and space applications to the young students in the emerging trends in space science and technology, which are the building blocks of the future of our country.

Selection Criteria

  • Marks obtained in class 8 examination: 50%
  • Performance in Online Quiz: 10%
  • Participation in Science Fair (School/District/State and above the level in last 3 years): 2/5/10%
  • Rank in Olympiad or equivalent (Rank 1 to 3 in School/District/State and above in the last 3 years): 2/4/5%
  • Winners of sports competitions (1 to 3 ranks at School/District/State and above level in last 3 years): 2/4/5%
  • Scouts and Guides/NCC/NSS members in the last 3 years: 5%
  • Study in village/rural school located in Panchayat area: 15%
  • Minimum participation from each State/Union Territory will be ensured. This program has been planned at seven centers of ISRO.

How to Apply for the YUVIKA ISRO 2024 Programme?

Eligible Class 9 students can register themselves for ISRO Young Scientist Program in the following steps:

  • Step 1: Visit the ISRO Space Curiosity platform and register yourself. https://jigyasa.iirs.gov.in/registration
  • Step 2: After registration verify your email ID by clicking on the registration link sent on the registered email.
  • Step 3: Now, students have to participate in the space. Remember, read the guidelines carefully before starting the quiz.
  • Step 4: Now, when your quiz is complete. Enter your educational and personal details.
  • Step 5: The next step is to upload the certificate. For verification, students will have to attest the photocopies of their certificates with the signature of the Principal/School Head. Remember, scan the verified certificates and then upload them on the portal.
  • Step 6: Once the scanned documents are uploaded, review your application carefully before clicking on the Submit button.

ISRO Center for YUVIKA Programs

The Yuvika program is planned at the following seven ISRO centers in India:

  • Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun
  • you are. Rao Satellite Center (URSC), Bengaluru.
  • Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC), Sriharikota.
  • Space Applications Center (SAC), Ahmedabad.
  • National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), Hyderabad.
  • Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.
  • North-Eastern Space Applications Center (NE-SAC), Shillong.

Under the programme, the state government will bear the travel expenses of the selected students to the Center and ISRO centres. Students will have to produce their original ticket for reimbursement of bus or second AC fare.
