Bharat Ratna is known as the country’s highest honour. This time, the Narendra Modi-led government has announced to give Bharat Ratna to former Bihar CM Karpuri Thakur, Lal Krishna Advani, Narasimha Rao, MS Swaminathan and Chaudhary Charan Singh.

Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country in the year 2014. In these 10 years, 10 people in his government have been honoured with the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna. Manmohan Singh led the UPA government from 2004 to 2014. Only three people were awarded Bharat Ratna during the tenure of his government.

A total of 53 people have been awarded the Bharat Ratna so far, including Jannayak Karpuri Thakur, LK Advani, Choudhary Charan Singh, PV Narasimha Rao and MS Swaminathan.
