The Madhya Pradesh government has launched the Eklavya Shiksha Vikas Yojana to improve the future of the students of the state. Through this scheme, the government will provide financial assistance to provide quality education to the children. Under this scheme, meritorious children of tendu leaf collectors are admitted to excellent educational institutions and their educational expenses are reimbursed through the Minor Forest Produce Federation, which helps them to continue their studies. Key Aspects of the Scheme
- Madhya Pradesh Eklavya Shiksha Yojana was established in 2010.
- Every year eligible beneficiaries get financial assistance to help in the educational development of meritorious children of tendu leaf collectors.
- So far, 12,043 students have received a total amount of ₹ 10.51 crore under the scheme.
- ₹ 51.85 lakh has been sanctioned for 515 students for the 2019-20 academic year.
Financial Assistance is provided under the Scheme
- ₹50,000 per year for students pursuing vocational courses.
- ₹20,000 per year for non-technical graduate students.
- ₹15,000 per year for students studying in classes 11 and 12.
- ₹12,000 per year for students passing classes 9 and 10.
- In addition to the stipulated amount, students will get assistance for tuition fees, textbooks, hostel expenses and travel expenses for one time home visit per year.
