Goa Government has launched its flagship scheme “Gramin Mitra Yojana” to provide doorstep delivery of government services across the state and promote digital empowerment in rural areas. The scheme will bridge the digital divide and promote digital empowerment in rural parts of the state. Minister of State for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Rohan Khaunte, Union Minister Shripad Naik, and Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanawade were present on the occasion.

The objective of the Gramin Mitra Scheme

The program aims to empower rural communities with access to information and opportunities that can transform their lives and promote socio-economic development.

Benefits and features of Gramin Mitra Yojana

  • Digital Empowerment: Through this Grameen Mitra initiative, digital connectivity will be increased in rural areas of Goa.
  • Government Services at Doorstep: Through this scheme now every eligible rural citizen can get government services at his doorstep.
  • Call Center Service: People who are interested in availing of the benefits have to contact the call center number from 8 AM to 8 PM.
  • 24*7 Services: Under the Grameen Mitra Scheme, the Government of Goa provides services to the beneficiaries on all seven days of the week.
  • Promoting e-Governance: This Grameen Mitra Scheme promotes e-governance in the rural area of the state.
  • Digital-first state: A minister of the Goa state government said that the Grameen Mitra scheme will help make the state the first in the digital services sector.
  • Bridging the digital divide: The scheme has features that will bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas in terms of technology and innovation.
  • Resource Saving: This scheme will facilitate doorstep delivery, hence this initiative helps the rural citizens to save time as well as money.

Eligibility Criteria for the Goa Gramin Mitra Scheme

  • The applicant must be a resident of Goa State.
  • Only residents of rural areas will be able to avail the benefits of the program.
