Aaws Bhatta Sahayata Yojana (ABSY) has been launched by the Government of Madhya Pradesh to assist Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in pursuing higher education. This scheme provides financial assistance to students who study in government or recognized non-government colleges while staying away from their homes.

Benefits of the Scheme

  • ₹2,000/- per student per month in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain cities.
  • ₹1,250/- per student per month at district headquarters.
  • ₹1,000/- per student per month at Tehsil and Vikas Khand level.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must belong to the SC or ST category.
  • The student must have been admitted as a regular student in a government or recognized non-government college.
  • The student should not be living in any government hostel.
  • The annual income of the student’s family should not exceed ₹6,00,000/-.
  • The college or permanent residence of the student should not be within the limits of the same local body (Municipal Corporation/Gram Panchayat) where they are studying.

How to apply?

  • Visit the online application portal State Scholarship Portal 2.0.
  • Click on “Self Registration” and fill in the required details (scholarship category, state, name, date of birth, gender, contact details etc.).
  • Login and choose your scheme.
  • Enter the required information (your name, father’s name, Samagra ID, Aadhaar number, bank account etc.) and upload documents (photo, signature etc.).
  • Submit.

Required Documents

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets.
  • Certificate of the current class.
  • Caste certificate.
  • Passport-size photo.
  • Bank account passbook.

Important Points

  • After approval, the amount will be credited to the student’s bank account.
  • The principals of government institutions will be the approving authority for their institutions. For non-government institutions, the principal of the government institution will be the approving authority for the respective non-government institutions.
  • In addition to the prescribed housing allowance, the student has to bear the rent amount himself.
  • If a student fails the examination or the examination is postponed, he/she will be ineligible for the scheme in the next year.
