Limitations of the Scheme

Although the scheme is helpful for workers in the unorganised sector, some limitations may be considered:

  • Income Limit: The income limit of ₹3 lakh per annum may exclude some workers from the scheme, who may earn a little more but are still financially vulnerable.
  • Incomplete Registration: The registration rate may be low due to a lack of awareness about the scheme or complexities in the registration process.
  • Temporary Employment: The unorganised sector often has temporary or seasonal jobs. In such a case, it may be difficult to meet the eligibility condition of working for 6 months.

Future Directions

Some improvements may be considered to increase the effectiveness of the scheme:

  • Increase in Income Limit: More workers can be included in the scheme by increasing the income limit for eligibility.
  • Publicity and Awareness Campaign: Media campaigns can be run to increase awareness about the scheme. Simplifying the registration process and further strengthening the online mode would also be beneficial.
  • Inclusion of Temporary Workers: Ways can also be found to include workers engaged in temporary or seasonal jobs in the scheme.

Conclusion

The Madhya Pradesh Mukhyamantri Mazdoor Suraksha Yojana is an important social security scheme for workers in the unorganized sector. This scheme provides financial assistance to workers and their families affected by unforeseen events. If you are eligible for this scheme, I encourage you to apply for the scheme and avail it.
