Uttar Pradesh Gambhir Bimari Sahayata Yojana is a state-sponsored initiative, created under the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to provide financial assistance to construction workers who are not covered under “Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana” and “Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana”.
Family members of construction workers can avail the benefit of medical treatment in any government or autonomous hospital under the aegis of the Government of India, Government of Uttar Pradesh, or hospitals empanelled by the National Health Authority of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana or SACHIS (State Agency for Comprehensive Health Insurance and Integrated Services) at the state level.
Benefits
- Full reimbursement is equivalent to the benefit payable under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme for treatment in government/autonomous hospitals or SACHIS empanelled hospitals.
- For medical/surgical treatment, an advance amount may be disbursed to the hospital based on the treatment estimate of the hospital.
- There is no fixed upper limit of the amount.
- It covers several critical illnesses, including:
- Heart surgery
- Kidney transplant
- Liver transplant
- Brain surgery
- Knee transplant
- Cancer treatment
- HIV/AIDS
- Eye surgery
- Gallstone surgery
- Appendix surgery
- Hydrocele surgery
- Breast cancer surgery in women
- Cervical cancer surgery
- And other illnesses under the Ayushman Bharat and Mukhyamantri Jan-Arogya Yojana.
Eligibility
- Must be a worker registered under the Labour Department.
- Beneficiaries cannot avail of benefits of government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan-Arogya Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan-Arogya Yojana.
- Only the following family members are covered under it:
- Self
- Dependent parents
- Spouse (husband/wife)
- Daughter
- Son (only below 21 years of age)
Application Process
Offline
- Contact the nearest labour office, tehsildar office or block development officer of the respective development block.
- Obtain and fill out the application form.
- Attach the required documents in the prescribed format.
- Submit the application form to the same office.
Online
Registration Process:
- Visit the official web portal.
- Provide the required information like Aadhaar number, circle, district and mobile number.
- Submit the registration request.
Submit the Application:
- Visit the official web portal.
- Provide the required information like a circle, scheme name, registered Aadhaar number, and registered mobile number.
- Click on “Open Application Form”.
- Provide the required details in the application form including applicant/worker details, child details and bank account details.
- Submit the required documents and application request.
Required Documents
- Copy of construction worker registration card
- Copy of Aadhar card
- Copy of bank passbook containing account number, branch name and IFSC code
- Details regarding the illness
- Doctor’s certificate in the specified format
- Original medicine bill
- Attestation certificate of the unmarried daughter or daughter below 21 years of age.
Conclusion
The financial assistance provided under this scheme helps the beneficiaries to access better medical facilities. However, for the smooth functioning of this scheme, the government needs to clarify the eligibility criteria, simplify the application process and provide timely assistance to the beneficiaries.
