How do I join NDA?
The entrance test of the NDA is held twice a year i.e. NDA-I and NDA-II. The first notification is issued in January and the second notification comes around June. The first entrance exam is conducted around April and the second around September. The examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
What are the eligibility criteria for joining NDA?
A candidate must be an unmarried male/female and must be:- A citizen of India, or A subject of Nepal, or A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st Jan, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India).
What is the maximum age limit for joining NDA?
Only unmarried male/female candidates between the age group of 16½ to 19½ can join NDA.
What is the minimum educational qualification required for joining NDA?
For Army: 12th Pass of the 10+2 pattern of School or equivalent examination by a State Education Board or a University. For Air Force & Navy: 12th Pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
What should be the medical conditions of a candidate joining NDA?
Candidates must be physically and mentally fit according to prescribed physical standards/guidelines given in the Notification.
What is the pattern of the examination conducted for joining NDA?
Exam Pattern The entrance for National Defence Academy comprises of a written exam followed by an Intelligence and Personality test. The written test consists of two papers. Mathematics The General Ability Test Test/Interview Selection Procedure Board Conduct The UPSC conducts a written examination of the candidates and prepares a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the Commission at their discretion. Such candidates shall appear before a Services Selection Board for intelligence and Personality Test where candidates for the Army/Navy wings will be assessed on officer potentiality and those for the Air Force in addition to the above will have to qualify the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS).
What is Services Selection Board (SSB)?
Services Selection Board (SSB) A two-stage selection procedures based on Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test has been introduced at Selection Centres. All the candidates will be put through stage one test on the first day of reporting at the Selection Centre. Only those candidates who qualify at stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining test. Preparation of Merit List and Allotment of Service Subject to the above conditions, the qualified candidates will then be placed in a single combined list on the basis of total marks secured by them in the written examination and Services Selection Board Test. The final allocation/selection to Army, Navy, Air Force will made up to the number of vacancies available (subject to the eligibility, medical fitness, and merit cum preference of the candidates).
