International Asperger’s Day 2025
Context:
The United Nations observes International Asperger’s Day annually on 18 February.

The day was first adopted in 2007 by the United Nations General Assembly to increase awareness of the significance of Asperger syndrome for individuals and the community.
Asperger's Syndrome (sometimes called high-functioning autism) is a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a developmental disorder.
Asperger’s syndrome was named after Hans Asperger, a doctor in Vienna In the 1940s, he took note of the pattern of social issues in some children under his care that now defines the disorder.
The prevalence of Autism in India has been steadily increasing. According to a 2021 study published in the Indian Journal of Pediatrics:
1. The estimated prevalence of Autism in India is around 1 in 68 children.
2. Boys are more commonly affected by Autism than girls, with a male-to-female ratio of approximately 3:1.
